TAVISTOCK College pupil Davie Soanes is celebrating soccer success, after completing successful trials with not just one, but two Nationwide professional football clubs over the past six weeks.
Davie, who is in year 9, has been travelling to Bristol City three days a week and the family was delighted when they learned he had been selected for the club.
He also spent one week with Cambridge United over Easter and the family was overwhelmed to discover Davie had the chance to attend the Academy for Cambridge United also.
His father and coach Peter Soanes said Davie was 'absolutely delighted' with the chance, which would help him in his aim to become a professional footballer.
Peter said for all his early success, Davie wasn't 'cocky'.
'He's had a ball at his feet since he could toddle,' Peter said, adding that Davie's uncle had played for Southend and he had looked up to him.
'It's his dream and desire and we hope this will be a foot on the ladder.'
They have decided to opt for the Cambridge United Academy place, as they have family at Huntingdon which should make the move easier.
Unfortunately, the team will be relegated next season, to the division Plymouth Argyle have just gained promotion from!
'But the family is looking forward to the new life in Lincolnshire,' said Peter.
Davie has been college football captain and has represented Devon for the under 11, 12 and 14s.
He has played all his football around the Tavistock area.
His father coached him until he was chosen for Devon, when Sue Hammond of Tavistock took over.
He was later coached by David Pooke, another FA football coach.
Peter said Davie thanked everyone who has supported him , especially the college.
'We can't thank Tavistock College enough. They have been very supportive,' he said.
