LOPWELL Dam will be open to the community as it celebrates local nature reserves. The dam, which is managed by the South West Lakes Trust, will host events from Saturday, July 23 to 30, to encourage people to explore and enjoy the area. Paul Gregory, Lopwell community liaison officer, will be leading one of the events to show the beautiful and serene landscape of the Tavy valley and estuary on a walk through the area. A bat evening will use bat detectors to find bats on the site, and Tom Sleep from the Entomologist Devon Moth Group will be talking about and observing moths. Director of English Nature, Andy Clements, said: ?This is a fantastic opportunity to explore local nature reserves and find out what makes them so special.?
