NINE students from the Czech Republic have spent three weeks working on placements in nurseries and primary schools in Tavistock. The students travelled to Tavistock through the Community Vocational Training Action Programme, funded by the European Commission. The seven girls and two boys worked with youngsters at the nurseries at Tavistock Primary, Sunningdale and The Old School, and also at Whitchurch Primary. Students from Tavistock College have also taken part in the project, with post-16 students working on placements in Sweden regularly over the last six years. This year ten students took up placements in the Czech Republic. The Czech students came from Jarom, which is two hours north-east of Prague, and they all studied Early Years. The Tavistock students came from a range of courses, including BTEC Early Years, AVCE Leisure and Recreation and AVCE Business. During their placements the students lived with host families in the area.
