ANIMAL rescue staff from West Devon are getting fit and encouraging the public to do the same for their latest fundraising event – the Devon to Dorset sponsored cycle ride.

On September 1, staff and volunteers will take part in a relay cycle ride from Margaret Green Animal Rescue's Wingletang centre near Tavistock to their Church Knowle Animal Sanctuary and Visitor Centre, near Corfe Castle, Dorset.

Lou Keeling, marketing manager, said: 'We are asking the public to sign-up to do a leg (approximately ten miles) to raise money for our rescue animals.

'We will cover a total of 130 miles and aim to arrive at Church Knowle around 8pm on September 2 to start the celebrations! As always, 100% of all donations go directly to animal welfare. We need the public's support to continue to rescue the hundreds of animals that so desperately need our help each year.'
