THE Garden House has thanked all those who contributed to their ‘hugely successful’ crowdfunding campaign which has raised more than £33,000 in the space of a month.

The trustees of the beautiful garden at Buckland Monachorum, pictured right, launched the campaign to save the house for future generations. They hoped to raise £20,000, so were absolutely delighted with the response. Devon County Council and housing association Sovereign Housing donated, along with many individuals.

‘We’re really pleased to be fully open to the public for the summer following our crowdfund. It was so amazing to get support from our community,’ said visitor services manager Karen Willcocks.

‘We hope people will really value the garden after its long closure and respect our social distancing rules. It will be wonderful to see visitors enjoying the garden again.’

The garden, which is filled with many rare plants, is looked after by a small and passionate team of staff, students and volunteers.

It has been featured on BBC Gardeners’ World and is a favourite with TV gardeners Toby Buckland and Carol Klein. It is particularly famous for its snowdrops, wildflower meadow and stunning Acer Glade.
