STEVE McCormick from Whitchurch (pictured above) 'rowed across the English Channel' — a distance of 34 kilometres — on a rowing machine at the BodyZone Gym.
Steve, 49, a software developer and whose daughter Megan plays for the Tavistock Girls U15s football team and son Calum plays for the Tavistock U16s rugby team, said: 'I thought the Sports Relief challenge would be a great way of getting fit and raising money for a good cause.
'BodyZone were very helpful in getting me going. I decided running was not for me, so I tried the rowing machine, this was better. I decided I needed a target distance and the 34km across the English Channel seemed ideal.'
All the training paid off, as Steve successfully completed his row in his target time of three hours, raising more than £250 for Sport Relief. To make a donation on behalf of Steve visit the website at http://www.mysportrelief.com/rowthechannel">www.mysportrelief.com/rowthechannel
