MARKET-GOERS will have their pick of some Olympian standard food in Okehampton this weekend as many of the stall holders have picked up medals at the summer?s gourmet events. At Taste of the West, David Sargent of Sargies Kitchen gained a silver medal for his garlic butter, while Penny Pearkes of Pennys Parties got two silvers and a bronze for her duck and orange pate, smoked trout pate and her curried mayonnaise. West Lake Orchards gathered three silvers for their premium cider and their organic apple juice, called Falstaff. The West Devon company also pipped two golds at the national Great Taste Awards in London for their organic cider and French style cider which they named Cidre Anglais. Linda Davis market manager at Okehampton Farmers Market said all these winning products will be available for tasting this Saturday between 9 and1pm.
