FIREFIGHTERS from Tavistock were called to a chimney fire at a property in Sampford Spiney last Thursday (October 23) just before 6pm.

The fire involved a wood burner. Crews extinguished the fire using chimney gear, ladders for access, a hose reel jet and safety at height equipment. The cause was believed to be accidental.

l Crews from Yelverton and Crownhill were called to rescue a lady who was stuck in mud up to her knees at Burrator Reservoir on Saturday, October 25 at around 4pm.

Specialist Rescue teams from Camel's Head and Exeter also attended.

The crews released the woman using a short extension ladder and a stirrup pump.
