OWNERS of a beloved border terrier are continuing to search for their lost pet, more than a week after he went missing.

Facebook users and visitors to Whitchurch Down may well have come across posters and appeals to help find 15-year-old Brecon, who went missing during a walk in the area of the the Pimple, Tavistock Golf Club and Whitchurch Down on Saturday, November 26.

Owners Adrian and Claire Pitcher have been out nearly every day searching for Brecon since he went missing, even organising a large search party to cover a large area of the moors a few days after he went missing, but with no luck.

The couple have another border terrier, Archie, who is eight and is said to be missing Brecon ’like crazy’.

Adrian said: ’We rescued Brecon a few years ago from a difficult home via Border Terrier Welfare. We have rescued several borders. We moved to Devon eight years ago and Brecon joined us the following year. He is a lovely dog — I know they all say that, but he has a lovely, friendly nature. He is very resilient and has come through several health scares and problems. He loves Dartmoor and we have spent many hours walking with him and Archie in the moor.’

The couple have set up a Facebook page www.facebook.com/Findbrecon for people to get in contact if they spot him anywhere and posters have been put up with his picture and a contact number.

Adrian added: ’We organised a mass search for him and swept a large area of Whitchurch Down with friends and their dogs assisting. Many strangers also joined our search. A friend has been around the moor on a quad bike looking for him at night as well. We are determined to find Brecon, but we need some support to achieve this. The people of Tavistock have been fantastic in looking out for Brecon, searching for him and supporting us and we are very grateful to the help already given.’

Adrian said they have been worried about Brecon being out in the freezing temperatures experienced last week but he is hopeful that someone may have taken him in and not taken him to the vets yet.

If anyone catches sight of Brecon or manages to find him, they are asked to contact Adrian via the Facebook page or by calling 07512989750. Brecon is chipped so you can also take him to any vet who will help to reunite him with his family.
