East Cornwall division one Camelford 2 Tavistock 3 TAVISTOCK travelled to mid table Camelford in wet and windy conditions. It was all Tavistock in the first 20 minutes, with chances mostly from set pieces. Ben Stevens went close after hitting the crossbar from a fine corner by Jamie Martin. The same two combined again through another corner and Stevens made no mistake with a power header to give the goalkeeper no chance. Two minutes later Camelford equalised from a penalty. The Lambs battled on through the hard winds and nearly took the lead from Paul Cowling's fierce strike, only for the keeper to pull off a great save. A strong team talk at half time from managers Karl Gatcum and Mick Piper seemed to work and pushed the visitors up a gear. Great strength in midfield with Aaron Rocky, Adam McPherson and the running movement from Pete Floyd put the Lambs on course. A fantastic through ball by Luke McPherson found Cowling who chipped the goalie from eight yards. Camelford, though, equalised straight after from a deflected free kick. All the drama was in the last three minutes when a flighted cross into the box from the inspiring Pete Gibson led to a clash with the goalkeeper, who kicked McPherson. It gave the referee no choice but to send him off and award a penalty. With all the pressure on, with three minutes remaining and three vital points at stake, Cowling coolly slotted home the winner.
