Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 3 Plymouth Parkway 1 THE Lambs? great start to the season continued with a very worthy victory over their Devon rivals. Both sides came into the game with wins on the opening day. It was the visitors to show first as Dave Wilkinson had Andy Meeds just getting a hand to divert a goal-bound shot just wide of the mark after seven minutes. And for the home side the ball fell invitingly for Chris Menhinnick after a quarter of an hour just inside the area but he snatched at it in haste to balloon the ball over the bar. Martyn O?Sullivan flashed a shot wide for the visitors and Lee Ireland saw his curling shot go wide of the post for the Lambs before they took the lead after 35 minutes. Sean Cann, James Steer and Shane Krac closed the ball down on the edge of the halfway line for the latter to send the ball over the Parkway defence for Mark Conday to show them a clean pair of heels to round keeper Joey Sundercombe. The Lambs had the perfect start after the interval to go 2 up in the very first minute. Having forced a corner Steer?s quick touch to Menhinnick saw him whip in a fierce cross that was partially cleared to Glynn Hobbs to shoot home from the angle of the area. They then appeared to lose control of the game and came under a 15 minute spell of pressure but managed to weather the storm without conceding and with 15 minutes remaining increased their lead again. Captain Will Stringer?s searching diagonal cross field ball saw Conday go clear again. But as he reached the area he went tumbling from a challenge from a defender for Oldaker to point to the penalty spot and the provider of the pass ? Stringer ? stroked home to put the Lambs firmly in charge. The visitors finally got on the score sheet with two minutes left when O?Sullivan put Andy Sargeant to lob the ball over Meeds for what turned out to be just a consolation. ?A great start to the season as we have got a similar amount of points after just two games in what took until the middle of November last year to achieve,? said a delighted Ian Southcott after the game.
