A REPORT has been released looking at access to complementary medicine in South West Devon. The report by Devon Patient and Public Involvement Forum has revealed that an increasing number of people are using complementary medicine as a means of improving overall health. Primary Care Trusts are currently not required to include provision of complementary medicine when building services, and therefore, level of access to complementary medicine differs across areas. The forum, made up of volunteer members of the community, investigated the availability of complementary services provided within South West Devon. The findings of the report showed a ?fragmented? service of complementary medicine being offered in the area. The forum recommends the findings of this survey be added to information available on access to complementary medicines via primary care locally. It suggests a consistent and equitable level of provision of complementary medicine would provide more choice and benefit patients in Devon. Copies of the report can be obtained from the forum website, http://www.cppih.org">www.cppih.org on the Devon PPI forum page.
