I HAVE just returned from staying with my son at Horrabridge. He is connected with Horrabridge FC who last Saturday organised an under 11 years six-a-side knock-out competition; similarly on Sunday for the under 10 years old. Three pitches were in use and four accredited referees were officiating.
The parents and committee members organised hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks etc and altogether a great deal of hard work went into the organisation. All in all it was a great success.
Apart from the organisation, what struck me most was the sporting attitude of the boys. No disputing the referee's decision and acceptance of defeat graciously. Their coaches are to be congratulated.
I hope this letter can be published if only to show an outsider's appreciation of all the work put in and time devoted, voluntarily, by all those folk connected with the various clubs.

ON Sunday my son's junior football team, Pensilva Youth, participated in a football competition at Horrabridge.
In a location that would have done Plymouth proud, the competition was first class, a friendly atmosphere, well run and well supported.
The football was of an exceptional standard and teams came from afar.
Thank you, organisers Rob Mitchelmore, Barry Smart, Willie Coleman. A great day was had by one and all. See you next year.
