OKEHAMPTON fundraiser Joyce Brockman is calling on local people to join her for a cup of coffee in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief on September 28.
Mrs Brockman, whose husband died from cancer three years ago, is taking part in Macmillan's largest annual fundraising event — the World's Biggest Coffee Morning — for the third year.
She is hoping as many people as possible will come along to the event in Fairplace Church from 10am to 12 noon.
Last year, coffee mornings all around the country raised £3 million which has made a real difference to cancer patients and their families. Macmillan hopes to beat that amount this year.
Four in ten people will be diagnosed with cancer at sometime in their lives.
The money raised through events like this not only fund Macmillan nurses and doctors but buildings for cancer care, grants for patients in financial difficulties and information services.
