SHEEP dog trials will take place once again at the playing field at Plaster Down, Horrabridge, on Saturday, August 24 by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Doidge.

Spectators can watch the skills of the dogs gathering sheep and running them through set courses, splitting one animal from the rest of the group then finally penning them with only the aid of whistles and a few audible commands from their handler. It is described as truly mesmerizing and a credit to the art of dog handling.

There will also be an agility course starting at approximately 10.30am, a family dog show commencing at 12.30pm and terrier/dog racing taking place throughout the day open to all dogs.

People can enter their pets and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the competitions or simply watch from the sidelines. There are prizes and rosettes for all winners.

Hot and cold food and drinks will be served all day along with various stalls to peruse and games to enjoy. Gates open at 8.30am and the trials start at 9.00am. Parking is free.
