THE team behind the Sticklepath Fireshow is to hold its annual meeting in March, gearing up for the event's 30th anniversary.
Over the years hundreds of individuals have given their time and skills to make the fireshow one of the best firework celebrations in the country. The fireshow's recent registration with the Charity Commission reflects the continued growth of the event.
However, the team need to recruit new committee members and volunteers to ensure the ongoing success of the fireshow and the Crafty Capers summer workshops.
Many of the core people behind the show are nearing retirement, so the committee is hoping to recruit as many people as possible to learn the required skills to run the show. They are looking to recruit new members both young and old from across the Okehampton and Sticklepath area.
There are a wide range of tasks involved, from creating giant puppets or singing songs for the soundtrack, to creating posters, organising wood collection or sewing costumes. Volunteers do not need these skills already, just a willingness to get involved and meet new people. There is also no limit on how much time you can spare — a few hours
There are committee and volunteers roles in PR and marketing, health and safety, costume design and creation, set design and building, script writing and project management. Volunteers can develop skills in each of these roles, bolstering their CV and adding strings to their bow.
The committee is also looking to invite back individuals who have been involved in the fireshow over the last 30 years to take part in the 30th anniversary celebration and pass on some of their wisdom to the new team.
The meeting takes place in the Ockment Centre at 7.30pm on Monday, March 11. All are welcome. For more information on the fireshow visit http://www.sticklepathfireshow.org.uk">www.sticklepathfireshow.org.uk
