AN accident occurred at Sourton Cross on Monday after a motorist drove along the A30 in the wrong direction
At around 8.05pm, police received numerous calls that a blue Rover Metro was travelling east on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Launceston. Twelve minutes later it was involved in a collision with another vehicle just east of Sourton Cross.
The blue Rover Metro driven by a 65-year-old woman from East Cornwall was in collision with a white Volvo driven by a woman from Cheshire.
Police attended the scene, and a police vehicle was also struck in the confusion, although no serious injury or damage was caused.
The 65-year-old woman was taken to Launceston Hospital, having suffered minor injuries. The other woman was not injured.
Police said both vehicle are considered insurance write-offs following the accident.

The accident, which occurred at around 4.30pm, involved a single vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf travelling towards Cheriton Bishop from Crockernwell. It was in collision with a nearside bank
The woman driver was thrown from the vehicle after the initial impact, sustaining serious head injuries. A male passenger remained within the vehicle and received minor lacerations to the head.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene and both victims were taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for treatment.
The 17-year-old woman comes from the Cheriton Bishop area. Her injuries were said not to be life-threatening.
