students, parents and staff filled the parish church in Tavistock for a commemoration service to celebrate Kelly College Founder's Day.

One of the college's most significant days of the year began with the service at St Eustachius' Church, led by the Rev Michael Meachin, to remember college founder Admiral Kelly.

Heads of school Darcey Ball and Ryan Kingsley took the readings and headmaster Dr Graham Hawley read the commemoration.

After the service students, parents, staff and friends made their way back to the school for the annual prize giving, where they were treated to a thought provoking and entertaining speech from global business woman, ex-Kelly pupil and founder's descendent Tessa Cook.

Tessa is the global managing director of E-Commerce at Dyson. She spoke of her life experiences and challenges and how she felt her Kelly education enhanced her future experiences and opportunities.

Many students received recognition for their achievements. As well as many prizes for outstanding achievements within academic areas, other prizes including Freya Semken for academic excellence, Alex Christmas for outstanding character, Cameron Brodie for swimming, Tom Rickard, Bret Bassett and Ben Walsh for sport, Joseph Morel for creative writing, Sarah Heracleous for drama, Darcey Ball and Thomas Elson-Knight for combined cadet force, George Harold for outdoor education and Brogan Pennington and Bliss Ellacott for service to the community.

Head of school awards were also presented to Darcey Ball and Ryan Kingsley.

The evening continued with a firework display, dancing to live band Gav and the Grim Notes and a disco by Shot in the Dark, as well as fairground rides of dodgems and a carousel.
