THE inimitable Colin Blunstone will be appearing at the Wharf, Tavistock on Saturday, May 13 with his band featuring ace keyboard player Rod Argent.
It was in the sixties four teenagers from Hertfordshire forned a new group that was destine to achieve top ten hits on both sides of the Atlantic, sell millions of records, and carve out a singular niche in the history of pop music . . . The Zombies.
Colin, then 18, was the lead vocalist and first came to prominence when their debut single 'She's Not There' reached no 12 in thre UK charts.
When it was released in America it achieved even greater success hitting the number one spot in the Cashbox chart and number two in Billboard.
Although the Zombies boasted the innovative keyboard playing of Rod Argent it was the individual, breathey voice of Colin Blunstone that gave the band its unmistakable identity.
When the Zombies split Colin took a break before embarking on a solo career with highly successful albums 'One Year' and 'Ennismore' which respectively spawned the huge hit singles 'Say You Don't Mind' and 'I Don't Believe In Miracles'.
More recordings followed and the nineties saw the release of 'Colin Blunstone Sings His Greatest Hits' and 'Echo Bridge'.
The Saturday gig is the only date in the West of England for Colin and tickets are going fast.
