Tavistock Swimming Club squad travelled to Clevedon for the third and final round of The National Speedo Swimming League. The long journey to Bristol didn't affect the swimmers who gave everything throughout this exciting competition. The gala got off to a flying start with Tavistock taking first place in both the women's and men's 100m individual medley races (Kirsty Best and Pete Freedman). This seemed to inspire the rest of the team as they notched up a total of 21 first places. The 15 and under boys' team (Tom Waddington, Josh Stephens and Tom Crocker) won all of their individual races in impressive personal best times. Overall the Tavistock team accumulated 20 personal best times with Josh Stephens and Michael Best swimming particularly well and gaining three each. Assistant coach Wendy Stephens was proud of the way the swimmers took part and the team spirit which they generated throughout the gala. The Tavistock team finally won the gala by just two points. The swimmers who took part (with number of personal best times gained in brackets) were Michael Best (3), Josh Stephens (3), Sam Campbell (2), Matthew Adams (1), Kirsty Best (1), Holly Brimble (1), Will Carter (1), Tom Crocker (1), Matthew Edwards (1), Charlotte Mellor (1), Kieran Rookes (1), Katie Stephens (1), Alexandra Stoecker (1), Tom Waddington (1), Amy Warnett (1), Kameron Brimble, Jason Butler, Harriet Edwards, Pete Freedman, Cameron McGurk, Laura Radgick, Nathaniel Rookes, Kirsty Smith, Elizabeth Teague, Harry Thompson, Ella Waddington, and Francesca White.
