AN annual display of hundreds of classic vehicles guaranteed to spark nostalgic memories has moved to a grand new home. The Tamar Historic Transport Club will hold its annual festival of transport at a new venue, Duchy College at Stoke Climsland, on Sunday July 13, from 10am. The event, which features hundreds of historic vehicles, has proved so successful – and raised so many thousands of pounds for charity – that the organisers have increased the size of the show and moved to the spacious college grounds to create more room for exhibits and visitors. And officials of the club, which has around 90 members drawn from an area centred on the Tamar Valley, are hoping for better luck with the weather after torrential rain made last year's rally a washout. Chairman Brian Davey said: 'Like a lot of events we were really unlucky last year, so we're putting extra effort in this year to make up for the disappointment of 2007.' There will be around 250 exhibits on show, ranging from bicycles to motorcycles, tractors to traction engines, miniature stationary engines to lorries and a stunning variety of around 120 cars. Highlights include an iconic 1950s James Dean Porsche, a rare 1937 MGSA Tickford and chairman Brian's collection of vintage Vauxhalls. There is also entertainment including music from The Texans and Metal Fatigue, action from the Tamar Valley Westerners' wild west show, an autojumble, trade stands, a beer tent and other refreshments, a cash draw and, of course, a bouncy castle for the children. Admission to the show is £3 per adult (accompanied children under 16 free), to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance, Children's Hospice South West, Liskeard Breathers Club and the Haye Mill Charity Trust.
