TAVISTOCK’s Christmas Tree Festival has raised an amazing £10,000 towards the upkeep of St Eustachius’ Church.
Now in its 11th year the festival has raised in excess of £110,000 and organisers — The Friends of St Eustachius’ Church are delighted.
The latest fundraising is expected to be used toward building a new galley and toilets.
Richard Crawford, chair of the Friends’ Group said he sent his heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the week such a success.
‘We were delighted that so many visited the event and that it raised over £10,000 in support of St Eustachius’ Church was amazing.
‘We hope it has made a very special start to Christmas for a lot of people, many of whom tell us they look forward to visiting us each year’.
Voting for the favourite Christmas tree was closely run, with every tree achieving at least one vote. Mount Kelly Preparatory School was voted the most favourite tree (schools) and in other categories, Men in Sheds came out on top.
The following were also winners: Mrs Osborne (the Amanda Randall Cox Christmas Tree), G Timberlake (the Quilt), M Greening (Tea for Two at the Bedford Hotel).
