MORE than 300 people were attracted to and enjoyed a fine and colourful day on Sunday at the Chillaton Open gardens day.
There were nine gardens to visit —Homeleigh, Laurel Cottage (hosts Deborah and Howard Asbridge), Wellspring (Maggie and Jim Wilkinson), Hillside Farm (Judith and Martin Prichard), Old Quarry (David and Joy West), Charnwood (Pauline Armstrong), Forda Farm (Bob and Rosie Laverty), Forda House (Ted and Anne Clifford) and Splatt Mill (Rod and Carolyn Stewart).
With refreshments, plant sales, art and photographic exhibitions and craft stalls visitors were well tended themselves. The event was good news for Devon Air Ambulance and Marystowe Church as around £2,000 was raised for these worthy causes.
