A 20-YEAR-old from Bere Alston is holding an event in Tavistock to raise money for research into gynaecological cancers.

Reise Adair is supporting the Eve Appeal in memory of his grandmother who died from ovarian cancer in January.

The charity evening, from 6pm to midnight, at the Tavistock Inn on June 22, will feature live music and raffles. Entry is free but Reise is looking for donations of raffle prizes.

Every day 50 women in the UK are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer and 20 die from the disease.

New results from laboratories as well as positive interim results from screening trials now offer real hope for earlier detection of ovarian cancer.
