Okehampton U13s 15 Penryn U13s 0 THE Okehampton U13s and U15s had a mini tour into Cornwall last weekend. On Saturday the U13s played Penryn. It was apparent early in the game that the Okehampton forwards were dominant over their Celtic cousins, pushing them off their own scrimmage ball, and out-rucking them in the loose. Andrew Fishleigh took several strikes against the head, and also stole the opposition ball in the mauls on more than one occasion. The breakthrough came when Mathew Webber broke through to score, with Jack Phare going close with the last play of the half. The second half continued in much the same way as the first. Brad Neolmes, Will Hawkin, Merrick Kirby and Rob Stepto all had superb games, preventing the Cornish from making any yardage with some very physical defence. The frustration was starting to get to Penryn, who began to use some dubious tactics to unsettle the visitors. The Okes stuck to their game and were rewarded when Hawkin bulldozed his way over for a score, followed by some excellent passing by the backs to put Phare in for another try. This Friday: Presentation evening at the club. Sunday: sponsored cycle ride at Okehampton station.
