MARGARET Hoffmann (née Margaret Creswell Profitt) from Stoke Climsland celebrated her 100th birthday among four generations of family and many friends last Friday.
'Peggie' as she is known, was born in Salford in 1912 and remained there until she married Dr Arthur Dunstan Hoffmann in 1937, when she moved to Bury.
The couple, who had three children, moved to Wiltshire following the war, where Arthur took on the village practice. They lived there for many happy years, taking on an active role in the community and hectic social life. Following Arthur's death, Peggie moved to Stoke Climsland in 2005 to live with her youngest daughter, Barbara.
Peggie celebrated this milestone birthday with all three of her children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, several of whom had travelled from South Africa for the occasion.
Despite her triple figures, Peggie is bright, alert, as witty as ever and, with the help of her great-grandchildren, successfully blew out all 100 of the candles on her birthday cake!
