TRADITIONAL Tamar Valley craftspeople are being sought to demonstrate their skills in a festival celebrating the heritage of the area.
The organisers of the Festival of the Tamar Valley are looking for people with time-honoured market gardening skills, such as flower bunching and chip basket making, or who have specialist knowledge of other traditional industries from the valley, such as the timber trade, mining and the river trade.
The festival, at Morwellham Quay on Sunday June 22, will be a showcase of the valley?s local crafts, food producers, and traditional music.
There will be numerous craft stalls and demonstrations, including a ?Taste of the West? food tent serving strawberries and cream amongst other delicacies.
Entertainment on offer will include a falconry display, archery, woodcraft skills, a steam organ and music from brass bands and folk groups.
There will also be an exhibition of entries from the Tamar Valley Tourism Association?s ?Bridges of the Tamar Valley? competition.
The festival is being organised by the Tamar Valley Marketing Project in conjunction with Tamar Valley AONB, Silvanus Trust, Tamar Valley Tourism Association and Taste of the West.
Tamar Valley Marketing co-ordinator, Bob Barrett, said: ?We are very excited about the Festival of the Tamar Valley.
?It will put the valley on the map, and give us a chance to show off some of the wonderful craftspeople working here, and celebrate the fascinating heritage of the area.?
Anyone who would like to contribute to the festival by offering their craft skills is invited to phone Tamar Valley Marketing on 01822 813622.
