THE people and movements that opposed World War One will be remembered at an evening event in Tavistock next Wednesday, September 9.

The World is My Country is a visual celebration by researcher Gabriel Carlyle and graphic artist Emily Johns, who are visiting Tavistock as part of a nationwide tour.

It features stories of disobedient soldiers, feminist peace initiatives and Maori princesses, which they say, illustrate the moral courage to stand up for your principles, despite massive social pressure to do the opposite.

The free event will take place in the United Reformed Church, Russell Street, Tavistock, beginning at 7.30pm.

It is organised by Tavistock Peace Action Group and all are welcome.
