A SOCIAL club for children and young people with special needs that promotes fun, socialising, development and building new friendships celebrates its first anniversary on November 2.
Special Needs Activities in the Park — SNAP — is a social club for youngsters aged between 10 and 25-years-old and is held every Thursday in term time.
SNAP offers fantastic opportunities to try new activities, sports, music, arts, dance, and a great chance of socialising. Individuals attending the club have reported improvements in health both physically and socially, self confidence, physical and creative skills, social skills, building friendships, and links to advice and relevant agencies.
The group celebrates its anniversary on Sunday in the Pavilion in the Park from 4pm to 6pm. The event is open to both regular SNAP attendees and their families, and also to those wanting to find out more.
The event will have a range of activities, including music and movement, a range of sports and activities and food for all.
Stuart Lord, manager of OCRA, said: 'It would be great to see everyone that has supported SNAP. We have achieved so much in our first year and it is good to have this benchmark.'
