A FORMER Tavistock College student with an eye for fashion saw the fruits of her labour displayed on the catwalk in London recently.

Emma Pumford, 22, from Whitchurch, designed and created a range of garments which went on show at Topshop?s London Graduate Fashion Week in Battersea Arena. She is about to complete her fashion degree at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, having left Tavistock College in 1999.

Her collection, called ?Fractured Fairytale?, was her penultimate assignment, and earned her an A-grade. The collection, which is made from silk, wool crepe and leather, was inspired by the moral values of the fairytale and uncovers the ?conflict between naivety and feminine seduction.?

Emma?s mother, Liz, and grandmother, Edna Carr, travelled to London to enjoy her proud moment.

Edna said: ?It was just like a fairytale! Her name came up on a big board, and there were professional models.?
