THE choir of Exeter Cathedral comes to Princetown Church on Sunday for what will be a 'great community event'.
The choir will sing evensong at St Michael and All Angels Church at 6.30pm on Sunday May 13.
The Rev Preb Nick Shutt, Rector of West Dartmoor Benefice, said: 'We booked the Cathedral Choir to come to Princetown over two years ago but they had to re-schedule their visit last year because of a diary clash, so we are very pleased to be able to welcome them to Princetown on May 13.
'Each year the choir goes out to a few selected parishes in Devon so we are very fortunate that they are coming to Princetown.
'This is going to be a great community event with refreshments being served after the service and provided by Princetown WI. It will also offer an opportunity to worship God – which is always a good thing to do.'
St Michael and All Angels Church closed for regular services in 2000 and is now looked after by the Church's Conservation Trust. It is still used occasionally for services such as that planned for this Sunday.
There will be a summer of singing in Princetown — another date for the diary is Princetown Sings to be held in Princetown Church Tor Lane on Sunday June 17 at 6.30pm with an evening of favourite hymns.
