CASTLE Drogo will be fully open for the new season this Saturday.

For the first time ever, Drogo will be opening for 7 days a week throughout the season, opening on Tuesdays for special conservation in action days.

From March 17, visiting Castle Drogo on a Tuesday will give visitors a new insight into the conservation of a fascinating property. The team will be demonstrating cleaning techniques on a wide variety of materials — they will also be offering tours showing how the castle and its collections are cared for and introducing visitors to the mysterious nine agents of deterioration.

Tuesdays are also a chance to see Castle Drogo in a new light.

Sunlight is one of the National Trust's greatest enemies when trying to conserve objects so the Castle will be almost entirely lit with electric light, giving the impression of the house as it was in the evening.

The team at Castle Drogo are also recruiting more volunteers.
