FIRECREWS from Tavistock used cutting equipment to rescue a woman from her vehicle after an accident on the A386 near Peter Tavy on Monday evening.

Two fire appliances attended the scene at the Peter Tavy junction with the main road, which was closed for a short time while the rescue took place.

The woman was taken to hospital with suspected neck and back injuries.

The crews were also called to tackle a fire at a property in Tavistock in the early hours of last Thursday.

Sub-officer Tony Clark said the fire was contained to the kitchen cooker, but he warned that people intending to cook late at night after socialising should be alert to the dangers of fire.
