Junior Cup

Calstock 2

Premier Sixes 3

After many weeks of postponed matches the Junior Cup third round game against Premier Sixes finally went ahead despite freezing conditions, creating a difficult playing surface.

Calstock took the lead midway through the first half with a goal by Darren Benfield. Calstock dominated possession throughout the first half, just before the half time whistle Calstock conceded a free kick allowing Premier Sixes to equalise.

The home side again took the lead through Benfield netting his second of the game with a fine finish, taking on the opposition defence and angle against him, managing to drill it round the keeper.

Calstock were forced to make two substitutions through injury - Barry Hemmett replaced Shane Richards and Gareth Layer replaced Lee Hould.

Premier Sixes started to pressure the Calstock defence and after creating few chances but taking them equalised again with five minutes to go, forcing the game into extra time.

Neither team could create much in the first half of extra time, injury took its third victim of the game and Finn Phillips replaced Paul Cottingham for Calstock.

The second half of extra time was difficult for both teams, with both sides tiring, Premier Sixes made the most of a corner and scored the winning header sending them through to the next round.
