THE Citizens' Advice Bureau in Okehampton and Tavistock is winding up its five year Home Visiting and Outreach project at the end of March.
Funding for the project came from the Big Lottery Fund Advice Plus stream, which has finally come to an end.
The project, which employed five part-time staff at the charity, has helped 1,400 people directly and has brought financial gains of £1,269, 961 into the local area for its clients.
Mandy Kenyon, project development officer said: 'I would like to pay tribute to the amazing team, who have worked so hard on this project from day one.
'Jane Wimberley and Julie Yelland, our outreach and home visiting officers, have worked with care, compassion, and tenacity to ensure that the clients who have needed their expertise over the years have received the highest quality service.
'Gail Butler, project assistant, has helped with key administrative support and publicity tasks, ensuring that the project was well known about and accessible throughout West Devon. Caroline Wilkinson provided supervisory expertise to the home visitors and trained over 30 volunteers.'
The project was also an important part of the West Devon Connect Roadshow organised by West Devon Borough Council which brings services to local people throughout the local area.
The CAB would like to continue with a future home visiting service to meet the needs of the rural community, particularly due to the changes in welfare reform, but is currently seeking a funder with whom to develop a new project.
In the mean time should clients need help from the CAB they can call 08444 111 444 or call into the Tavistock Bureau on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 2pm or the Okehampton Bureau on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10am and 2pm.
