A BUSY programme lies ahead for Hatherleigh Silver Band in the run-up to Christmas, starting this Saturday (November 8) when they play at a South West band competition in Torquay in the morning and at Hatherleigh's Centenary Carnival in the afternoon and evening.

This Sunday the band will be playing at Hatherleigh's Remembrance Parade, at 10.15am.

Then the band take a break, until their next engagement on Saturday, December 6, when they play an evening Christmas Concert at North Tawton Town Hall. On Thursday, December 11, the band will be providing the backing for those carol singing as they shop at Sainsburys Supermarket at Marsh Barton, Exeter.

The band then play three more evening Christmas concerts, at Dingles Steam Village, near Lifton, on Sunday, December 14; at the Waie Inn, at Zeal Monachorum on Thursday, December 18, then at Hatherleigh's own Christmas concert in the town hall on Saturday, December 20.

The programme finishes with carol playing around Hatherleigh on the evening of Tuesday, December 23, and on Christmas Eve itself, a carol service around the Christmas tree in Hatherleigh Square, followed by more carols around the town.
