THE Dartmoor Partnership's fifth annual Dartmoor Showcase Day takes place at the Two Bridges Hotel next week.
The event, on Wednesday, May 12, will be particularly useful for local business people. There will be more than 50 exhibitors offering a wide range of services for local businesses, especially those in the tourism industry, plus a range of topical talks.
Cllr James McInnes, leader of West Devon Borough Council, county councillor and member of Dartmoor National Park Authority, will be opening the event at 11am.
At noon, David Podd, the area manager of the Devon Local Business Team at Barclays Bank, will give tips on running and growing a local business.
West Devon is still one of the safest places in the country to live. However, rural crime is an ongoing issue. At 1pm Michael Youlden, South Hams and West Devon crime prevention officer, will talk about the Moor Watch project.
Finally, at 2pm, Jess Whistance, Dartmoor Partnership manager, will give an update of its many achievements over the past year. She will highlight the role of the partnership in promoting Dartmoor and its significant role in supporting local businesses and speak about the way forward for the partnership and its members.
Dartmoor Farmers' Association will provide complimentary beefburgers with delicious slow-grown, native-breed Dartmoor beef.
Weather permitting, the llamas from Dartmoor Llama Walks will be there.
The Dartmoor Partnership is a not-for-profit organisation that works to help local businesses.
