TWO into one does go for Tavistock and Okehampton Citizens Advice Bureaux which merged last week to create West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau.

The reorganisation will mean that the bureau will be able to develop new ways of meeting the advice needs of the people of West Devon.

Lucy Batlett, CAB spokesperson said: 'The current bureaux in Okehampton and Tavistock will remain open in the same way as they always have, but by coming together the two bureaux will be more efficient and better able to meet the challenges facing the charity sector today.'

The merger could also make it possible for the CAB to open satellite bureaux in other towns in the West Devon area, such as Hatherleigh, Bere Alston and Chagford.

The new West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau formally came into being after the existing committees were dissolved at a meeting at Lydford Village Hall last Friday (October 31). The new bureaux then held its inaugural meeting.

The new bureau will continue to be funded by West Devon Borough Council and Devon County Council, without which it would not be able to operate.

If you are interested in volunteering to help at the bureau, please contact Barbara at the Okehampton bureau.
