TWO Tavistock brothers will be taking on the challenge of running 13 miles for charity next weekend — one a seasoned runner and record holder, and the other having never taken part in a race before.

Adam and Nathan Holland will be running the Plymouth Half Marathon together on June 3, raising money for Sue Ryder Care.

Adam is the current world record holder for fastest time to complete ten marathons in ten days, and also holds the record for the youngest person to have run 100 marathons.

But his brother Nathan has never taken part in an organised running event until now.

Nathan said: 'I play loads of football but have never done much running so I want to complete a half marathon as a personal challenge. My brother is obviously quite keen on his running so I decided to try something new and give running a go.

'Adam's friend manages the Sue Ryder shop in Tavistock and she encouraged us to get involved. I'm delighted to be taking part in my first half marathon and raising money for the amazing work that Sue Ryder does.'

All money raised will go directly to help the charity continue to provide quality care for people living with end of life and long-term conditions.

Nathan added: 'I am appealing for local people to sponsor me and help to raise as much money as I can for Sue Ryder.'

Local Sue Ryder fundraiser Chris Andrews said: 'We're absolutely thrilled for Adam and Nathan to join the Sue Ryder team at the Plymouth Half Marathon.

'Adam is an extremely strong runner and we are very pleased to be involved in Nathan's first ever half marathon. They will be joined on the day by another Sue Ryder supporter, Brett Sweetman, and we hope that the three of them will raise in excess of £500 for the charity.

Staff, volunteers and friends of the Sue Ryder shop in Tavistock will be in attendance on the day to cheer Adam and Nathan on and provide them with plenty of support.'
