I AM writing to follow up on my previous letter, in which I encouraged fellow readers to register interest in BT upgrading our exchange to accommodate Broadband.

I would like to advise readers that even though they had to register their interest with BT, as BT owns and operates our Tavistock exchange, there is no implied contract to be connected to Broadband with BT as one?s Internet Service Provider.

I say this as I received a call this week from BT who wanted me to ?sign up? with them for their Brandband service.

This I politely declined as I am more than happy with my present server, AOL, and wish to have my Broadband connection through this server.

I had to state this fact repeatedly to the BT caller. I may have blotted my copybook with BT, but aim to stick to my guns on this as my present ISP is all I require, and more.

Time will tell if we are to be subjected to similar problems to those I have read of in the national papers, as well as having friends who have found a ?certain lack of communication? between BT and AOL, elsewhere in the country!
