THE inspection to discover the condition of the ageing footbridge across the River Tavy in Tavistock?s Meadows has been completed by contractors. Deputy town clerk Rosie Keyhoe said the engineers have completed their inspection: ?According to our works superintendent their initial findings were favourable and we are now waiting for a full report.? She said the council, which owns the bridge, had been told it should be closed for up to a month while investigations took place. ?Obviously, they had no idea what they were going to find, but it?s favourable,? said Mrs Keyhoe. The council will now wait for a full report from the contractors. The project to renew the bridge is likely to cost around £100,000 ? councillors hope it should be completed by September next year.
