FIVE shots on the last end were still not sufficient for Yelverton men?s bowlers to win the home leg of the Foxlands against Sir Francis Drake.

The home team drew 18 all but the away team suffered a heavy defeat 35-9 for the club to lose overall.

The men?s team incurred further losses, firstly to Sir Francis Drake a week later and narrowly to Peverell Park 101-103, both in the County Trophy competition.

However, to offset those losses, the mixed team has continued to enjoy a very successful season beating the retired Civil Servants 92-67, Tavistock 109-82 and Constantine 95-67 before coming unstuck, losing away to Plymstock.

Newly promoted to the first division, Yelverton lady bowlers continued their league campaign away to the Elizabethans, winning on one rink but losing by a greater margin on the second rink, thereby losing overall and so surrendering the extra points.

The ladies entertained Plymouth Hoe in the Top Club competition, going down 3-2.

The team recorded wins in the pairs and triple but lost in the fours and both singles.
