DICKENSIAN Evening is an event full of Christmas cheer — something that estate agents Salisbury Henderson embraced by raising over £100 for Tavistock Youth Café during the event.

Staff at the firm, who won the best dressed team award for their Dickensian outfits, raised £123.45 for the youth café by selling mince pies, mulled wine and chocolates throughout the evening.

Representatives from the youth café popped into their offices recently to pick up their cheque.

Vicki Lloyd from the café said: This sort of support will help pay for activities and we are very grateful to Salisbury Henderson for their support.

‘Things with the youth café are going really well. We are running more sessions now than when we started with in our new building. It’s purposefully built and fitted out so we can host band nights and do the sort of things we want to do.’

Sally Salisbury, partner at the firm, said: ‘With Dickensian Evening having such a local feel we wanted to highlight a local charity, and there is nothing better than one supporting our young people in this way. Lots of places focus on supporting the huge national charities, but charity does begin at home.’
