LAST Sunday in wet and windy conditions members of Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) took part in the Plym Valley Challenge taking two Tavistock athletes with them.

The Plym Valley is a multi-terrain race comprising of nine miles through the National Trust area of Plymbridge woods.  It was an enjoyable and truly multi-terrain race with some testing hills and even a river to wade through.

Surfaces varied between a grass playing field, tarmac, gravel tracks, forest trails, stony tracks, and a stretch of uneven shale rock outcrop "pavement" along the side of the beautiful River Plym, there were even a couple of logs to jump over!

First lady home for the race was Becky Mingo running for Tavistock Athletics Club.  Becky's fellow club runner, Hannah Colston also ran a great race.

First man home for the Bats and first in his age group was Laurence Sargeant and first lady home and second in her age group was Dotty Allan who was chased home by Julian Setterington.

A well done to both Sues who ran excellent times for the Bats and who finished second and third in their age group.
