A CURIOUS theft took place last Saturday night in Tavistock — a large PVC banner advertising this weekend's Tavistock Carnival was stolen from its site at the roundabout near Abbey Garage.
Lions secretary Chris Northey said the banner was securely tied to the railings.
'It would have taken somebody a quarter of an hour to undo it — too much effort for a joke — and although one man could carry it bundled up you wouldn't want to carry it far — and anyway what use is it to anyone else with "Tavistock Carnival" written all over it?' he asked.
Mr Northey added that they had not yet received a ransom demand.
