A TROOP of Tavistock scouts helped pack bags for a day in Callington so they could go to Legoland – and made more than £600.

Whitchurch beavers, cubs and scouts paid the visit to the Tesco supermarket last month, to raise money for their trip to Denmark. The 14 youngsters raised £616.34, helping customers with their packing in their second appearance at the store.

Scout leader Cath Monks said: 'It's nice to hear the customers' comments and get their support.

'The scouts are going to Denmark at the Whitsun half term for a week, staying outside Copenhagen.

'We are going to be doing expedition challenges – as well as visiting Legoland.'

Scouts fundraiser Lisa France added: 'Once again we have been made very welcome by the Tesco staff and the Scouts have had an enjoyable day.'
