Bovey Tracey v Tavistock
TAVISTOCK stand-in captain Arnie Searle won the toss and put Bovey in to bat.
Bovey got off to a good start, putting on 47 for the first wicket. Steve Miles then bowled Phil Bradley for 8.
Coulton joined Chris Bradley and the two accelerated the rate, plundering boundaries off Alexander, who was bowling too short and wide.
Coulton was eventually dismissed lbw for 47 by Gauler, who was bowling a tight line.
Gauler then took two wickets in two balls, which brought Australian Stephenson to the wicket. The Aussie chanced his arm with some big hitting, scoring 57 off 56 balls.
Steve Miles came back into the attack and removed Stephenson, next ball he clean bowled Newton.
The Bovey innings ended on 216 for the loss of six.
Tavistock got off to a poor start, losing Kaitiff and McGahey cheaply against a lively Bovey attack. Searle was batting circumspectly with Phyl Ellwood batting in similar vein at the other end.
Ellwood fell lbw to Carter and Searle was joined at the crease by Luffman. The two forged a useful partnership before Luffman hit the ball behind point and chanced a single, Searle was run out by five yards.
Colin Mortimore, returning from a serious back injury, immediately set about the tiring Bovey attack.
Luffman was driving and cutting in the best form he has shown this season. The two went on to win the game, putting on 146 for the fifth wicket, winning with three balls to spare.
This win puts Tavistock back in the hunt at the top of the A division table.
