SEVEN young readers at Okehampton library received their Gold Booktrack awards earlier this month. The awards have been designed to encourage children to read more books. They choose the books they like and then discuss the contents with their local librarian. A record is kept of what books have been read and the young readers collect badges and stickers as they progress towards their next target. Badges are awarded for reading 10, 25, 50 and 75 books, and at the end of the reading trail of 100 books, children get special certificates and a gold badge. The scheme is open to all over the age of six. Twelve-year-old Hannah Anstey was the winner of the Caterpillar?s Journey quiz held as part of the Big Wild Read at Okehampton Library.
