AN organisation committed to improving the prosperity of West Devon and its people has been recognised as an Investor in People.
West Devon Business Information Point (BIP) was established in 1993 to provide businesses and organisations with expert advice to support their economic development and long-term futures.
The work of West Devon BIP came to the fore in 2001, during the foot and mouth crisis, when it worked with other agencies and organisations to help businesses devastated by the disease secure recovery grants of £1-million.
Administration manager Cathy Wright said: ?We are delighted to be recognised as an Investor in People.
?Recognition is confirmation that the investment we are making in training and development is paying huge dividends, not only for our hard working staff but the businesses, organisations and individuals that we are helping on a daily basis.?
West Devon BIP is a non-profit making company which provides a range of professional services to businesses across the area, including assisting with grant applications, and market research.
In recommending West Devon BIP for the Investor in People award, assessor Barry Rendal-Jones said: ?There is a consistent, open and supportive management culture.
?Everyone understands what is expected of them ? objectives, targets, outputs, quality and priorities ? and shares business and individual achievements and success.?
