Plymstock Albion Oaks U15s 5
Tavistock RFC U15s 24
TAVISTOCK, with a point to prove following early season defeat to Plymstock in the Devon Plate, started the match much the brighter.
The visitors opened the scoring within five minutes following a well worked move from the backs, with Hallam Bourton, Ed Longden and Monty Burdfield all linking well to release Richie Coker to run in the first try.
Plymstock had no early answer to a dominant Tavistock pack. With Ash Toll hooking extremely well, the scrummage was strong throughout, allowing Tavistock the opportunity of quick ball to the backs and play some high quality expansive rugby.
Tavistock's determination to win was demonstrated throughout, with Pete Meachin running in the second try under the posts, after great forward play. Ed Longden converted, to give Tavistock a 12-0 half-time lead.
Wholesale changes by the visitors at half-time did not affect the pattern of play, exemplifying the strength in depth of the Tavistock squad.
With tails up, Plymstock could not counter the threat posed by the visitors' back line, and with Ross Malton distributing well at scrum half, Tavistock were beginning to shine. Zac Cinnamond for Tavistock did not miss a tackle throughout the game.
Further tries followed through Pete Meachin and a solo charge by fly half Ed Longden, which was successfully converted, put the game beyond Plymstock.
Plymstock scored a late consolation try.
There were so many great performances throughout the side, from Ed Ames at full back, Zac Cinnamond at prop, Pete Meachin at number eight, Ed Longden at fly half and impressive running and distribution by both Monty Burdfield and Richie Coker in the centre.
Player of the match went to Ash Toll at hooker for an excellent performance in the front row.
